We are seeking a part-time Coder (Health Information
Management Specialist). This position is accountable for the conversion of
diagnosis, treatment, and procedures in codes using ICD-9-CM, CPT, and HCPCS
coding guidelines for billing of services.
Duties include reviewing active medical records for coding, verifying
medicare coverage, entering data into Avatar, coding Axis III diagnoses,
attending meetings, reviewing medical records of Medicare patients to match
physician documentation with DRG, assigning DRG utilizing clinical coding, maintaining
listing of DRG’s, and performing reviews in assigned areas.
The successful candidate will have a
knowledge of computer database application to include Microsoft Excel,
ability to abstract and gather clinical data from primary data sources and
medical records, good verbal and written communication skills, and competencies
in coding ICD-9-CM, CPT-4 and HCPCS.
Prior significant experience as a coder required.
Certification through the American Health Information Management Association as
a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and/or Certified Coding
Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) strongly preferred.
The position is for a total of 5 hours each week
Monday - Friday with flexible hours between the time
of 10am-6pm. The salary is $21.00 per
hour.
