NVMHI a state inpatient psychiatric facility is seeking a Nursing Unit Manager. This position supervises recovery based comprehensive patient-centered nursing care through management and development of unit nursing staff, liaison with interdisciplinary treatment teams, and collaboration with a supportive, innovative Nursing Leadership Team. The responsibilities include completing staff schedules within the context of a self-scheduling model, supervising day to day unit operations, leading unit-based quality improvement activities, and preparing reports.

The successful candidate will have broad knowledge of principles and practices of psychiatric nursing and the ability to supervise and make judgments about staff performance.

Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or a compact state is required. Prior psychiatric nursing experience required, as well as a demonstrated experience in managerial elements. Graduation from an accredited nursing program (4-year college program preferred). Master’s degree preferred.
