We are looking for a
psychologist with experience and interest in applying evidence-based treatment approaches
to the treatment and recovery of individuals with persistent and severe mental
illness to join our dynamic clinical team. Northern Virginia Mental
Health Institute serves a diverse population in the Northern Virginia region
and leads the region in the promotion of hope and recovery for individuals who
have mental illness. NVMHI encourages collaboration among its
clinicians and promotes an environment of innovative thinking, shared
leadership and ongoing professional development. Unit Psychologists work
as part of an interdisciplinary team supporting the recovery of adults with
severe mental illness in an inpatient setting.
Duties include providing
assessment to evaluate risk, participating in treatment planning and providing
evaluation, treatment (group, individual, and family, behavioral)
and consultation services. Unit Psychologists also play a lead role in
the case management and treatment of individuals adjudicated Not Guilty by
Reason of Insanity. The successful candidate will have training and
ongoing interest in the application of cognitive-behavioral strategies and
behavioral interventions to the treatment of a range of disorders.
Opportunities for participation in research, training, and ongoing individual
and peer clinical supervision are available in the context of quality patient
centered care.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology
required. VA license as Clinical Psychologist strongly preferred.
Experience CBT and DBT treatment interventions, as well in behavioral analysis
and application to various disorders, including trauma and dual diagnosis, are
strongly preferred. Previous experience in inpatient settings
and in forensic mental health treatment are a plus.
The starting at salary range
begins at $58,000; however, salary is negotiable based on experience and
current salary. This position opened on 3/22/13 with a minimum
